BT Weather's Severe Weather Outbreak Coverage is now on standby, waiting for the next wave of atmospheric instability. BT Weather's coverage will slightly diminish until needed again. BT Weather: Weather Hour will still continue. Next week, BT Weather: Weather Hour becomes a twice-weekly segment: Monday and Friday at 7PM ET on BreakyTime.
Wave #1 for 2026 was an intense testing regime for the new BT Weather. It showed where I was doing things right, and also doing things very wrong. The feedback from the community on what people liked and didn't like made a world of difference, and by the end of the first wave, we actually put together what I think is an incredible Alpha version of what we're attempting to put together. This project will take awhile to streamline.
BT Weather has become a major portion of the BreakyTime channel. BT Weather may end up becoming Alex's primary beat after covering politics on Twitch for just about 2 years. While The Newsfeed still continues, BT Weather may now become "Alex Layne's Current Event Speciality."
Alex puts out a final call to the world of Twitch.TV:
"We need people to start covering the weather on Twitch. We have incredible potential to bring a much needed service to people. Experts, hobbyists, and people who are simply interested in weather should get involved.
To my fellow leftists: Just imagine what a de-centralized radical weather collective could accomplish. If you apply things like community organizing and contextual praxis to things like storm spotting and disaster response, I believe that gives you a potent tool in your toolbelt. Severe weather affects everyone, and it ultimately disproportionately impacts marginalized and poor communities who cannot afford to rebuild."
